This open-plan kitchen extension benefits from excellent natural light, thanks to generous roof lights and full-width sliding doors to the garden. The space has strong architectural presence, with a long wall run that naturally lends itself to clean, uninterrupted cabinetry and a central island layout.
The goal was to create a kitchen that felt contemporary yet timeless — something refined, practical, and well-balanced within the bright, modern setting. Storage needed to be generous but streamlined, and the overall aesthetic had to complement the open-plan living area without overwhelming it.
A two-tone scheme was introduced to bring both warmth and visual depth to the space.
Kashmir was selected for the main cabinetry along the wall run. This soft, neutral tone enhances the natural light from above and keeps the room feeling calm and spacious. Against the white quartz worktops and cladding, it creates a seamless and understated finish.
The island was finished in Heritage Green , adding contrast and character. Positioned centrally, the island naturally becomes a focal point, so introducing a deeper tone here anchors the layout and gives the kitchen personality without darkening the overall space. The contrast between the two colours feels balanced rather than bold, ensuring long-term appeal.
The shaker detailing of the Chatham vinyl doors introduces subtle texture, maintaining a classic profile while still fitting comfortably within a modern extension setting.
The long wall run maximises storage and efficiency. Integrated appliances are neatly housed within tall cabinetry, creating a structured cooking zone while keeping sightlines clean.
