The client required a practical and modern canteen area that would serve staff efficiently throughout the day. The space needed to:
Durability and simplicity were central to the design, resulting in a bright, organised canteen that works efficiently while maintaining a polished, modern appearance.
This canteen was designed to be straightforward, practical, and easy to use day to day. The layout runs neatly along the walls, with a large central island added to give extra space for food prep, small appliances, and shared use during lunch breaks.
The Phoenix Gloss Light Grey doors help keep the space feeling bright and modern. The gloss finish reflects light nicely, which makes a real difference in a workplace setting. It also makes cleaning simple — an important factor in a staff kitchen that’s used constantly throughout the day.
Along the back wall, we created a dedicated coffee and refreshment area. The worktops comfortably support coffee machines, water dispensers, and other appliances without the space feeling crowded. Everything has its place, which keeps the canteen organised even during busy periods.
Open shelving was added in selected areas for easy access to plates, bowls, and cups. In a workplace environment, convenience matters — and this setup allows staff to move quickly without having to open multiple cabinets.
The island is a key part of how this canteen functions. It gives additional surface space so several people can use the kitchen at once without getting in each other’s way. Microwaves and other small appliances can sit comfortably on the quartz surface, while the shelving below provides practical storage.
